はじめに
- いい年して「金融一ミリもわからん」はまずいので,金融について勉強する
- 具体的には,CourseraにてYale University (イェール大学) の講義 Financial Markets を受ける
- 講師はノーベル経済学賞(2013年)受賞者のRobert J. Shiller
- 本ページでは,筆者が講義で興味深いと思ったことを自分用のメモとして記す
- なお,専門用語は日訳しない.これは,筆者が現在英語を日常的に使用する環境にいるので,英語で専門用語を覚えたいため.

- Limit orderとstop loss orderの違い
- Limit order: Limit以上で売る/limit以下で買う.利益最大化の手段
- Stop loss order: 閾値以下で売る.リスク回避の手段

- 国のdefaultとrepudiation
- Default: 「借金を一切返さない」ことではない.借金をどうするか(e.g., 一部免除, inflate the currency)はnegotiateで決まる
- Repudiation: 「借金を一切返さない」こと.「不適切な借金だったので,返さない」と債務国が債権国に対し一方的に宣言
- Default waves: Percentage of countries in external default or restructuring, 1800-2015
- 平均20-30%くらい.毎年かなり多くの国がdefaultしていることがわかる
- Corporate bankruptcyには二種類
- Chapter 7 - Liquidation
- Chapter 11 - Reorganization (e.g., GE)

様々な会社の形態

- Cooperatives
- メンバ1人につき1票.組織構成員の利益の最大化を目指す.
- 日本で言うコープ.Nonprofitとは異なる.
- Rarely successful
- 規制が必要な例.昔は薬は効果が確認されていなくても市場に出してOKだったらしい.
- トランプはこの規制を取っ払おうとしていたらしい.「薬の効き目は市場が決める」というliberalismの元に.
用語
- Public companyとprivate companyの違い
- Public (listed) company: Officially listed on the stock exchange and are open for the general public
- Private company: Held by a small number of stockholders and is not listed on the stock exchange
- 日本で言う「公企業 (public enterprise)」「私企業」ではない
